Property developer Barratt Homes offers thousands of pounds towards the deposit of new build homes for Foster Carers.

Foster Carer added to Key Worker Contribution Scheme

Foster Carers have recently been included in the list of key workers eligible for the Key Worker Deposit Contribution (KWDC) Scheme from Barratt Homes. This means that finding a house that truly feels like home and meets all your fostering needs could now cost you less than expected.

Originally launched in 2022 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the National Health Service, the KWDC scheme has been extended to help Foster Carers afford a home of their own. While owning a home isn’t a requirement for fostering, this scheme could save you thousands if you choose to buy.

As part of the Key Worker Deposit Contribution Scheme, Barratt Homes will contribute £1,000 for every £20,000 from the total value of a new build property purchased from them that meets their requirements.

Here’s an example of how it works:

For a home costing £325,000, you would qualify for a contribution of £16,250 toward your deposit. Barratt Homes will also include flooring up to 1% of the property’s value as part of the scheme.

Conditions apply, requiring the purchaser to be approved for a mortgage and to meet the chosen mortgage lenders requirements. To find out more about the Key Worker Contribution Scheme visit Barratt Homes website or read their terms and conditions here.
