Fair Ways wins Employer of the Year and CSR Initiative of the Year awards at 2021 Business Excellence Awards

We are delighted to share with you that Fair Ways has been announced as double winners at The News, Portsmouth Business Excellence Awards. Fair Ways was awarded Employer of the Year and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Initiative of the Year awards for 2021.

Last night (8th July 2021), Fair Ways attended The News, Portsmouth Business Excellence Awards evening following shortlisting for three awards – Employer of the Year, Training Provider of the Year and CSR Initiative of the Year.

According to the judges, the competition for the awards was very fierce in all three categories and they commented that Fair Ways stood out in the two winning awards and were particularly complimentary of the scale of Fair Ways approach to Corporate Social Responsibility.

Rather than a single CSR initiative, Fair Ways has adopted a framework approach to CSR or Giving Something Back (GSB) as we call it. The framework is led by ‘The 1% Difference’, a commitment to provide 1% of profits annually to fund our GSB activities. Our activities are then divided into three categories:

Local Community Initiatives – Chosen by our employees
Global Initiatives – Offering young people in our care, life-changing experiences to help others 
Engagement Initiatives – Bringing Fair Ways staff and service users together

It is hugely important to give something back and this speaks to the heart of Fair Ways values.

This award is a recognition of years of hard work in developing our framework and we look forward to making a difference in the years to come.

Fair Ways were also announced as Employer of the Year at the awards. In announcing the award, presenter, Anjana Gadgil stated – “The winner in this category works in a tough environment, under pressure every day, but it invests in its staff to ensure they don’t burn out. They give staff the training they need, the tools to develop and all the staff the judges interviewed, lived the company ethos.”

We are extremely proud to have been named both Employer of the Year and CSR Initiative of the Year at our first time of entering The News, Portsmouth Business Awards.

Winning these awards at any time is something to be proud of, but I am especially proud of everyone at Fair Ways to have won these awards off the back of the difficult and challenging year.
